2002-present Roger Daltrey Roger Daltrey was born on March 1st, 1944.
Born in London, Roger went to school with
Pete Townshend and John Entwistle. After
finishing school Daltrey got a job as a steel
worker, and joined a band called 'The
Detours.' After starting the band, he also
got Townshend, Moon, and Entwistle to join
the band. After a few name changes, they
formed “The Who.” The band ended up
becoming extremely successful, and won
many awards. Even after his career in The
Who, he still creates music today by himself.
He also received an honor from Queen
Elizabeth II, The Commander of Order, for
his charitable efforts. Even now, while Roger
is in his 60’s, he still continues to do
performances, and television shows. Pete Townshend Pete Townshend was born in London,
England on May 19th, 1945. his parents
weremusicians, and once he became 12,
he started to play the guitar. he went to
an artschool, and started the who with
Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith
Moon in 1962. Townshend was the
songwriter of the group, and also played
the guitar, which he destroyed after each
performance. Like Daltrey, he is still in his
60s, but continues to play his guitar. John Entwistle John Entwistle was born on October 9th, 1944 in Cheswick, England. In the 60’s he joined The Who with John Entwistle and Roger Daltrey. He was the bass guitarist of the band. He played with the band until 1982. He came back to do a reunion tour with The Who in 1989. He later made his own single, and formed another group. In June 27th 2002, John Entwistle died in Las Vegas from a heart attack. In honor of him Townshend and Daltrey played with Entwistle’s band for the remainder of the tour.
Keith Moon Keith Moon was born on August 23rd, 1946 in London England. He joined The Who with Daltrey, Townshend, and Entwistle 2 years after the band was formed. Besides playing for the The Who, he also did some work with Led Zeppelin’s future band members. He released his own single in 1975, but it was short lived because he died in 1978 from an overdose of a drug that was meant to help him stop drinking alcohol. He was the very talented drummer and percussionist of The Who.
