Double click anywhere & add an idea The Grand Canyon is the largest gorge in the world at 290 miles long gash. At the bottom of the Canyon a
mile below the rim the Colorado
River slices through Granite Gorge. The Grand Canyon itself is less
than 6 million years old. The Grand Canyon National
Park was established in 1919. Rim to rim it is measured up to
18 miles across. The Grand Canyon has a 126km
race over 24 hours. The El Tovar Hotel was built
in 1905 on the south rim. U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt
also visited the Grand Canyon. Weather conditions in the
Grand Canyon region are generally
dry. The summer highs within the Inner
Gorge commonly exceeding to 100*F. The
winter minimum temperature sometimes falls
below 0*F THE GRAND CANYON
