CDM Smith-engineered Perth Amboy/Sayreville, N.J. Record-setting HDD Crossing, of 5360 ft of 24-in fusible PVC pipe, for Middlesex Water Company is selected as the “Project of the Year” by Trenchless Technology Magazine.

ISTT holds its 30th International No-Dig show in São Paulo, Brazil and begins its 4th decade of activities.

ASCE publishes its 2nd edition of Manual of Practice on Pipeline Design for Installation by Horizontal Directional Drilling.

The 1st World Trenchless Day is celebrated on September 22, 2016.

The first installation by Direct Pipe Method of a 705 ft, 30-inch natural gas pipeline under Highway 70 in Florida is performed.

ASCE Pipeline Division Conference devoted to Pipelines and Trenchless Construction and Renewals with a global perspective is held in Fort Worth, TX.

NASTT publishes its Spanish edition of Trenchless Technology Manual.

ASCE Pipeline Division establishes the Technical Committee for Trenchless Installation of Pipelines (TIPS) Committee. Since its establishment, this committee has published Manuals of Practice on topics such as Horizontal Directional Drilling, Pipe Bursting, Pipe Ramming and Auger Boring.

Center for Underground Infrastructure Research and Education (CUIRE) is established at Michigan State University.

NASSCO establishes its PACP Certification program.

Dr. Tom Iseley, Father of Trenchless Technology, delivers the keynote address at the ASCE International Pipelines Conference in Baltimore, MD which was chaired by
Dr. Ahmad Habibian of CDM Smith.
1st Textbook on Trenchless Technology, authored by Dr. Mo Najafi, is published.

ASCE publishes its 1st edition of Manual of Practice on Pipeline Design for Installation by Horizontal Directional Drilling.

NASTT publishes its Pipe bursting Good Practices Guidelines.

The December issue of Trenchless Technology Magazine cover story is devoted to highlighting the contributions of CDM Smith to the development of trenchless technology field.
