Transcript of Disaster film

Disaster film Definition Independence Day and Armageddon Evolution of the Genre A film genre that uses a disaster as its focal point. The events leading up to the disaster, as well as the effects of the disaster on a particular group after the calamity strikes, drive the narrative. The genre is inextricably linked to action, science, and horror film genres-- it capitalizes on audience fears and hunger for spectacle (a hybridized genre)- uses many of the same conventions.
