Mills began work on Pampers in the 1950's, using his grandchildren as test subjects. By the 60's, you could find Pampers in drug stores, department stores, and supermarkets. The cushion quilted lining and value pack were introduced in the 80's and the hourglass shape had evolved by 1984. The 90's brought the introduction of gender diapers, but ended at the end of the decade and unisex diapers were brought back. In 1993 Pampers tried training pants but the outcome was a short lived product. They didn't try training pants again until they came out of Easy Ups. Pampers History Pampers used a pin at first, but in the 70's they replaced the pins with tape. Today Pampers Diapers have Premium and Baby-Dry diapers that have a protective layer of lotion that helps keep little bottoms soft and smooth.
