Thinking Out Loud: Ed Sheeran
"And I can't sweep you off of your feet"
Metaphor: Ed Sheeran is comparing something being picked up as a whole and comparing someone being swept off of their feet; falling madly in love. When you are dusting you aren't picking up all of the particles that need to be picked up you are just picking up some of the pieces. When you sweep someone off of their feet you pick them up as a whole you can't pick them up in different pieces. When we think of sweeping we think of someone sweeping the floor not someone sweeping someone off their feet or falling madly in love. He is saying that he is afraid that she doesn't feel the same way that he won't be able to make her fall madly in love with him again. Ed Sheeran wrote this song for his girlfriend Athina Andrelos. In this song you can tell that Ed Sheeran wrote this song for a special someone in his life. There is that feeling that you are connected as soon as he started singing his song. You feel like you are there with him. Ed was supposed to be moving in with his girlfriend this year. This song represents his fear of something happening and him being afraid that she won't fall madly in love with him again. Most people don't want to tell someone their fears so in this song he is talking about what he thinks are his fears and his true feelings for this girl. Ed Sheeran fears about moving in with his girl friend, he fears that they will see eachother more and they might not like what they see. When you are around domeone more you see a different side of them writeabout the fears of him moving in wi
