Characterized by atherosclerosis in
the coronary arteries.

CAD begins with injury to the
inner layer of the coronary
artery. The damage may be
caused by: Smoking, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol diet, diabetes, or radiation therapy for cancer treatment...

Atherosclerosis develops gradually and usually exhibits no symptoms until later stages. The most common symptom experienced with CAD is chest pain, or a pressure sensation, also known as angina.
The most severe and dangerous symptom experienced, is a pulmonary embolism or a myocardial infarction.
Lifestyle & Home Remedies:
-Stop smoking: quitting is the best way to halt the progression of atherosclerosis.
-Exercise most days a week: this helps
lower blood pressure and reduces risk of
-Eat a heart healthy diet: this can help control your weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar.
-Maintain a healthy weight: Losing as few as 5-10 lbs can reduce risk of high cholesterol and diabetes -the two
biggest risk factors in atherosclerosis.

- Heart failure
- Carotid Artery Disease
- Peripheral Artery Disease
- permanent heart damage due
to a Myocardial Infarction (MI)
