William Kyle Carpenter
William was a marine who volunteered for service. In 2010, he got sent to Afghanistan as a Corporal. In 2014, he got awarded a Medal of Honor by president Barack Obama for saving a fellow marines life. As a grenade flew in to their bunker, William jumped to cover the grenade. He took serious injuries, but he saved a marines life.
Mary Edwards Walker
Mary Edwards Walker was born 1832 November 26. She was the only medal of honor recipient that was a female. She got her medal for decoration of bravery, for her efforts during the civil war. She was a surgeon during the civil war and saved tones of lives. She was awarded her medal of honor in 1865 by president Andrew Johnson.
Opinion on Mary
Mary Edwards Walker was a brave woman. The reason why I say this is because, while the war was going on she risked her life to go out there and help the injured soldiers. She had a lot of dedication to her country for doing what she did.
Opinion on William
I believe that William did a huge sacrifice and he deserves the award for saving his fellow marine's life over his. Thankfully, he is still alive. I am very surprised that he had the bravery to do that and thought to do that so quickly.
