Theories of Learning A process by which we acquire knowledge, skills and an understanding of abstract concepts. What is learning?

Learning is a continuous process There are a number of theories that attempt to explain how we learn. Skills and abilities Theory Experience Learning and Development reflect take action plan Write these down... Who or what has influenced your learning throughout your life so far? - developed a learning styles theory. They reviewed the way people learned - complete the questionnaire, to find out your style... Honey and Mumford Sort these notes into groups. Decide the categories for yourself... Four Health & Social Care students have been asked to make a wall display for a health promotion assignment. Katya is already planning out her ideas on paper, offering back to the assignment task to check she has understood what is required. Sally is full of enthusiasm, talks eagerly has lots of ideas and is trying to persuade the others to follow them. Lee is attentive but quiet and not contributiong to the discussion. Surinder is picking up some of Katya and Sally's ideas and is trying to form them into a sensible order. After a while, Katya starts chatting to her friend in the neighbouring group, Lee gets up to go to the library, and Surinder expresses exasperation at not having made any progress with the task. What is the preferred learning style of each member of the group? Why do you think the group has ceased to function? What could you suggest to the group to help them achieve their task?
