Muhlenberg is first petitioned to admit women
First Homecoming Queen
First Woman Valedictorian
1957 -Muhlenberg admits its first class of women for the '57-'58 academic year. Joining the inaugural class: 6 new female members of the faculty and a new Dean of Women.
First Female Student Body President
First woman graduates from Muhlenberg & the first women's intercollegiate sports team is established
Title IX passes, mandating equal resources be allocated for men and women's athletics.
First Woman inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame
In September, Phi Sigma Sigma becomes the first sorority recognized by Muhlenberg College. Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Zeta arrive in October.
First formal sorority recruitment
Women outnumber men at Muhlenberg for the first time
Phi Mu becomes the fourth national sorority on Muhlenberg's campus
The Women's Studies Department is formed
