Michael Jordan's Background Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born on February 17, 1963. He is
a former American basketball player and entrepreneur,
as well as a majority owner and chairman of the
Charlotte Bobcats. After a three-season career at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Tar
Heels' national championship team in 1982, Jordan joined the
Chicago Bulls in 1984. He quickly emerged as a league star. His
great leaping ability earned him the nicknames "Air Jordan" and
"His Airness". He also gained a reputation for being one of the best defensive players in basketball. In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993. Although Jordan abruptly retired from basketball at the beginning of the 1993–94 season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Chicago Bulls in 1995, and led them to three additional championships. More About the Quote than Anything The date of when Michael Jordan used or created the quote "You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them" is currently unknown.

Mrs. Bryan's reaction to the quote is, "It makes me inspired to do something better."

Gabe Dever's reaction to this quote is, "I feel like I need to work harder on things that are not even important to me."

Emilie Edgington's reaction to this quote is, "I agree with it. Even though I agree with most quotes." "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." When you are determined on acheiving a goal you've set, and you run into an obstacle in your way, don't just immediately abandon your goal, figure out how to go around the obstacle and acheive your goal anyway.

"Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation." This relates to my quote and the quote above this one. You have a negative situation when you run into an obstacle trying to acheive a goal you've set, so try to make it a positive situation by figuring out a way to overcome that obstacle and acheive your goal. Never give up.

What do you feel is the theme of these quotes? Always keep going, no matter what. Even if an obstacle is in your way, never give up. Ever. Figure out a way to overcome the obstacle and make it to the finish line, acheiving your goal(s). Above and Beyond with More Quotes! QUOTABLE QUOTES A PREZI PRESENTATION BY ANDY MARCUM "You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them." -Michael Jordan

I feel that this quote is good advice for life. You can't ACHIEVE a goal if you don't SET a goal.

I think this quote was important to Michael Jordan because he was a basketball player. You have to set the goal of scoring a basket, for example, before you can actually score a basket. My Quote Choice... Image from Shutterstock.com WHY WAS THE AUTHOR IMPORTANT IN HISTORY? WHEN DID THE AUTHOR CREATE OR USE THIS QUOTE? WHAT WERE SOME REACTIONS OF PEOPLE WHO HEARD OR READ THIS QUOTE? CHOOSE TWO MORE QUOTES FROM THIS AUTHOR THAT RELATE
TO YOUR QUOTE'S MEANING AND EXPLAIN WHY. Expanding Your Horizons 1. What were Michael Jordan's childhood years like?

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Deloris, who worked in banking, and James R. Jordan, Sr., an equipment supervisor. He and his family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, when he was a toddler. Jordan attended school in Wilmington, and played baseball, football, and basketball for his school teams. In his sophomore year of high school, Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team, but his height deemed him too short to play at that level. During that summer, however, he grew four inches and trained rigorously. He then tried out for the team again and earned a spot on the varsity roster. In his senior year, he was selected to the McDonald's All-American Team after averaging a triple-double (29.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 10.1 assists). Yes, I think so.

3. If yes, why do you feel that way?
