*One in 30 of baby boomers believed to be infected with hepatitis c but most do not know they are infected.
* The virus causes serious liver diseases like liver cancer the fastest rising cause of cancer causing deaths and the leading cause of liver transplants in the US.
* The CDC said “routine testing will address preventable consequences of the disease, new available therapies can cure up to 75% of infections”.
*More than 15,000 American mostly baby boomers die from hep c. US guidelines call for testing only individuals with certain risk factors of hep c.

Attributes: adaptive, goal-oriented, positive attitude, focus on individual choices, and freedom.
Work styles: confidence on tasks, emphasize team building, avoid conflict.

financial issues (savings and debt management, retirement planning.
mental issues:
depression, anxiety, problems with self esteem.

Birth of the baby boomers
Between 1946 and 1964, approximately 79 million babies were born.

The oldest baby boomers turned 60 years old in 2006.

The first two baby boomer presidents, Presidents William J. Clinton and George W. Bush, both were born in 1946.

In 1945, there was a total number of 2.8 million births

In 1946, the first year of the baby boom, number of births skyrocketed to 3.47 million!

In 1965 and on there was a major plunge in the total number of births.
-baby boomers have a reputation for being psychically active
- baby boomers are obese
-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol
-more likely to use a cane or walker
-less likely to smoke so lower chance for emphysema
-need to stay active so they can stay healthy longer

All baby boomers should get hepatitis c tested
