The artifact that we selected was the smartphone.
The purpose of our artifact, the smartphone, is to communicate and entertain.
The original inventor of the smartphone was the company, IBM Simon in 1993.
The area of technology that best fits our artifact is information and communication.
Uses Before and After
Originally, the smartphone was used as a mobile phone, PDA, pager, and fax machine. It also had apps including a calender, calculator, and address book. Today, the smartphone is used to communicate, spread information, and is also used for entertainment. Nowadays, we have a wider variety of apps to fulfill different tasks.
Since the first smartphone, it has been majorly improved. Many features have been added such as texting, web browsing, and cameras. Also network speed have increased, its more portable, and has a multi-touch screen. Even today, the newest smartphone is now motion detected.
Some positive effects of the smartphone is it is a better way to communicate, easy to use applications, you get exposed on a global scale, and learning and career growth.
Some negative effects of the smartphone are that they can make people oblivious to their surroundings, unemployment rates are increasing, and family and social relationships are being ruined.
The discovery of a touch-sensitive screen.
Creating a device that can perform multiple tasks.
Designing a screen that is touch sensitive with a touch screen keypad.
