Transcript of My learning profile

My learning style
There are three different learning styles. First, there are Auditory learners. They learn by listening, and have things explained to them so they can understand what to do.
S.M.A.R.T goals
A SMART goal is a specific goal instead of a general goal and can be accomplished by following the SMART steps. The letters in SMART stand for:
S-specific
M-measurable
A-attainable
R-realistic
T-timely
Tips to stay organized
There are two main places I would say that would be the most important places to be organized all year around. The first one is at school, and the second place is at home.
Some tips I use for studying are:
1. Make notes from notes.
2.Have a quiet workplace.
3.Make an outline.
The main method I use for studying is using a calendar. I put down any assigments that I have onto where it is due, and then see how much time I have to study, and get ready for that task.
About me
My learning profile
A couple of my interests are biomedical engineering, music, and chemistry.
Second, there are Visual learners. They learn by watching others do it first, then they understand it later.
Third, there are Kinesthetic learners. They learn by touch, which means they have to physically do the work in order to understand it.
My learning style is Visual/Auditory. I learn by asking what is confusing me, then watch and listen to the teacher explain and show me how to solve it.
One of my SMART goals is to make it into jazz band next year in music.
Specific:
The five W's and the H.
-Who?
-What?
-When?
-Where?
-Why?
-How?
I plan on making it into jazz band next year so I can get better at music. I will practice every weekday for 2 hours each day.
Measurable:
-How much progress did you make?
-How will I know when its accomplished?
I made enough progress to get into band, and learn how to play another instrument. I will know when this is accomplished when I make it into jazz band.
Attainable:
-What ways can you figure out to make your goal come true?
- What skills can you develop to help yourself with your goal?
I can keep at practicing for a fair amount of time per day, and I could develop good working habit towards other amounts of work, since I know that you have to practice in order to get it.
Relevant:
-How much effort will you put into completing your SMART goal?
I will put in a lot of effort towards this SMART goal by setting up my schedule so I don't miss anytime practicing.
Timely:
-When will you finish your goal?
I will finish my goal by grade 10, (next year) and then audition for jazz band.
Another one of my SMART goals is to pass high school with a 79+ average.
Measurable:
-How much progress did you make?
-How will I know when its accomplished?
The progress I made was not as much as I expected, but I made some. I achieved my 79+ average in 2 of my courses, but the other two I need to work on. I'll know when this goal is accomplished when all 4 of my courses through each year are over 79 average.
Relevant:
-How much effort will you put into completing your SMART goal?
I will put in a lot of effort by making a study guide, then making more additions I need throughout each year and course.
Timely:
-When will you finish your goal?
I will finish my goal at the end of grade 12.
At home, some of the things I do to stay organized are:
1. Keep a tidy work place
2. Have all of my work materials in an area where I can access them easily.
Specific:
The five W's and the H.
-Who?
-What?
-When?
-Where?
-Why?
-How?
I plan on graduating with a 79 average when I graduate. It's so I can look like I worked really hard to earn the mark I had. In order to do this, I have to study and work throughout the other 3 years of high school so I can accomplish this goal.
Studying tips
Time Management
My name is Zack, I am 14 years old. Some of my hobbies are swimming, boxing, and skiing.
Attainable:
-What ways can you figure out to make your goal come true?
-What skills can you develop to help yourself with your goal?
I can figure out a learning strategy
that can work for me throughout the rest of high school, like a study guide. I can develop good work habits by making each study guide I need.
1. Keep a tidy workplace:
It's important to me to keep a neat work area, so I won't lose anything, or get lost because I have papers everywhere. If I keep an organized work area than I won't have to face those problems.
2. Have an area where my materials can be organized:
It's better for me when I am able to just look into my file cabinet, then pull out what I need. If it were to be disorganized, then I would take more time than I already need, to spend finding papers.
At school, there are two spots where I think it is important to stay organized, which is my locker, and my backpack.
1. Locker:
This is like your own personal storage. I use it for taking my third and fourth periods. Like the working area, if you don't keep your locker neat then you will spend more time looking than actually finding it.
2. Backpack:
This is where all of my work, homework, and assignments go.
1.Make notes from notes:
Instead of memorizing every last detail down, re-write your notes until they come easy to you.
2. Have a quiet workplace:
It's important to have an area where you can go to work in silence so you can stay focused on your work with no interruptions.
3. Make an outline:
I use an outline and/or checklist to make sure I have covered every part of what I am working on.
