Author Study Ann M. Martin A Corner of The Universe Summary During the summer of Hattie Owen's 12th birthday, an uncle she never knew she had visits her. Adam, her uncle, came to them because his school, which is for the mentally disabled, has closed. Later in the book many events happen that begin to ruin Hattie's planned summer. Here Today Summary The book Here Today is about an eleven year old girl named Ellie Dingman who lives in a small town in the late 1960s. Her world is turned upside down when her irresponsible mother leaves for New York to get"established," and her father starts working long hours. Book summaries Ann M. Martin's books usually take place in small towns in the late 1960s.
Most of her books are told in the main character's point of view.
At the end of each book there is usually a chapter about what the main character does years after the main problem or conflict is resolved.
She enjoys writing about young and curious girls.
