Titanic Facts by Kaitlin Mote
Transcript of Titanic Facts by Kaitlin Mote
designed by Péter Puklus for Prezi
The Titanic was the biggest ship ever built. It was 882 feet 9 inches long and 175 feet tall. It was built March 31, 1909. It also took 2,000 men to build the ship.
If I was on the Titanic, what I would do is keep watch. So say I was on the top deck, then I could watch for icebergs. If I saw one, I could run to the Captain's Quarters so I could tell him that there is an iceberg ahead and he could turn the boat away from the iceberg.
The Titanic hit an iceberg when nobody saw the iceberg coming. Everyone was ordered to go to the G deck. There were only woman and children allowed on the lifeboats at first. Men had to stay back and help with the rest of the men. Some people had to jump, some people just didn't make it. It was freezing cold so some people passed away in the water. It was very sad.
The Titanic set sail on April 10th , 1912. It had 2,207 people on board.
The Titanic had First class, Second class, and Third class accomodations. The First class was for the rich and wealthy. Second class was for kind of rich. Third class was poor.
Their were only 700 who made it out of the water. 1,052 were perished. That's half of the actual Titanic passengers including crew members. Approximately 2,200 passengers on board all together.
Researches go underwater to dig up rare Titanic artifacts. Some people think they should just leave the artifacts there as a memorial. Personally, I think researchers should dig up a few artifacts so kids of the 21 century can see what really happened on the Titanic and take it seriously.
I found out in a book I was reading that 3 famous New Yorkers died on the Titanic. They were John Jacob Astor, and Isidor and Ida straus. In New York, they have a huge memorial for all of the people who died on the Titanic. The statue has a woman laying on her side.
The Titanic was very sad. I was browsing on a website and I saw that another captain saw a red streak of paint on an iceberg while he was sailing in the area.
The Titanic was very sad. Many people lost their lives. Just think of how many kids our age died or had a loved one die. That is just heartbreaking. From now on, I am taking the Titanic more seriously. R.I.P all of the Titanic victims.
I used the books named KIDS DISCOVER Titanic, and 882 and a half AMAZING ANSWERS To your QUESTIONS about the TITANIC.
