After the Korean War, English became important in Korean society and also influenced international trade. Qualifications Obtain a four-year Bachelor's Degree Must be a citizen of The United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland A federal background check; Korea doesn't provide the service while you are there. Is A Foreign Language Teaching Certificate Required? No, A Foreign Language Certificate Is NOT required. If you would like you can take a TESL class. Advantages of TESL Qualifies you for a higher salery Qualifies you for a better job position Makes you feel more secure after you begin teaching The Korean People The Korean people are noted for good hospitality. It's a good idea to learn about the Korean people before getting a job in Korea. If you ever need help, Koreans are eger to help you learn about their culture, or whatever you need. Koreans love to talk to Westerners, and their concern for foreigners is heartwarming Missionaries, advisors, traders, and teachers went to korea; taking the English with them. Those people then taught Korean children English The "Kim Young San" Foundation started a Program that teached English. Experience Alot of job postings say "No Experience Required" You do not need experience to teach in South Korea, but experience to always good to have. Teach in the US a little if you can. E-2 Visa, if you plan on teaching for a one-year contract period. Why Teach Making the choice to teach in South Korea is a big decision. You have to be very flexible to adapt to life in Korea Teaching in Korea will be a new and fun experience. What type of schools to teach at?
