Pagejacking Phishing Security Hacking Computer hacking is when someone modifies computer hardware or software in a way that alters the creator's original intent. People who hack computers are known as hackers. They usually have expert-level skills in one specific program. For most hackers, hacking gives them the opportunity to use their problem-solving skills and a chance to show off their abilities. Pagejacking is the behavior of stealing high-ranking web page content from another site and placing it on your site in the hopes of increasing your own site’s search engine rankings. Pagejacking is yet another shady way of gaming the search engines and, as such, its use should be strongly discouraged. http://answers.ask.com/Computers/Networking_and_Security/what_is_the_definition_of_computer_hacking Hacking is where a person, known as a 'hacker', uses their technical skills to gain access to a piece of computer hardware or software. Many company's hire hackers to test their security systems in order to prevent future hacking. A hacker could gain entry to my site and then proceed to delete or change information, potentially harming the site or offending users. http://cuterank.net/what-is-pagejacking/ pagejacking is when one website steals content from another site in order to try and boost their search engine rating and get more users onto their site, this can be used to get users onto unsafe or illegal websites. If someone pagejacked my website they could use the information to get a good search engine rating and potential users to my site could be directed to other, harmful sites. Phishing is the act of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites, auction sites, online payment processors or IT administrators are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting public. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing Phishing is when an individual attempts to get private information from web users such as their passwords and credit details. The Phisher may pretend to be a social network or IT administrator in order to get this information. Viruses A computer virus is a program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are man-made. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/V/virus.html
