Transcript of Berlin
Year in High School
I couldn't wait to go back!
On our mission trip to Moabit we hosted an English camp!
My Journey to Germany
So now that you know the How lets talk about what God is doing in Berlin
We had our first exchange student from Germany
Skip Ahead Two Years in 2007
So in 2010 I found out about a trip my church was going to go on to help plant a church in Moabit, Berlin, I Had to go!
We had 11 different nations at our camp
This is a journey that started about 8 years ago
when God planted a seed in my heart that I could never have imagined to bloom into this...
and I met my best friend to this day
That summer Sarah wanted to go on a mission trip to Mexico, and my church was doing a trip with Cases Por Christos.
For some strange reason I decided to take German
Hast du ein cowgummie?
I felt we where just going for her....
Like missions weren't for me...
But Little did I know how God was working in my life
That's Jan, "Prince Charming"
That is Marius,
"the Teddy Bear"
And 2 mission trips Later
Then another one my senior year...
see no idea
Then after graduation in 2009 Sarah and I jumped across the pond and life was never the same!
We fell In love with everything in Germany
Even the trash cans
see, so amazed!
In that year we also got another exchange student... My mom said that if he was from Berlin he would be from God
And sure enough he was from Berlin
Come with me!!
Because we had Niko as our third exchange student my mom was at ease in letting me go to Berlin!
That is Niko,
"the Old Man"
none of the kids had ever been to a camp before
We taught English and games from America and had fun workshops that were for both boys and girls
In the past few years between then and now God has definitely been challenging me and preparing me for what was ahead...
We even got a 4th exchange student! Shari!
She is the youngest sister of Marius, our 2nd exchange student
that is Shari
no nickname yet...
To better understand What God is Doing in Berlin let's look at the past...
It's called the L3 Project
The L3 Project is a one-year living, learning laboratory experience (L3) for ministry in a post-Christian world. I will live in community and begin to learn a language while serving in a local ministry.
There are five pillars of the L3-Program:
2. Language learning
4. Practical service
5. Theological seminars
> The Reformation
> The Moravian Church
> The Berlin Wall/ Communism
Even though there is an allowance of worship and freedom to believe the church in Germany has dwindled down to almost nothing...
"We are fine without [religion/Christianity] and don't see a need to go back in time...."
Berlin is one of the most diverse and influential cities in Europe.
The Berlin City Team Is establishing churches that are particular to surrounding communities.
