: What are the advantages of having a certain somatotype for these sports/positions?
Think about the demands of each sport.

Different Somatotypes in Sport
Refers to the
DEGREE OF MUSCULARITY
Muscles - arms and legs.
Minimal amount of fat.
Typically the most suited somatotype for performers at a high level in a vast majority of sports.
Refers to the
DEGREE OF FATNESS
Wide hips & shoulders.
Tends to gain fat on upper arms, waist & thighs.
Short legs in relation to their truck.
Certain body types are better for some sports than others.
With a certain type of body:
Some activities are easier with more chance of success.
Some activities are more difficult with less chance of success.

Comprehend the term ‘physique’.
Understand the link between body type and somatotype.
Describe each somatotype and their corresponding physiological indicators.
Consider the three types of extreme somatotype that exist.
Logically state the most suitable body type for a role or position in a particular sport.

You cannot control it and it develops naturally.
Height and general body shape are preordained.
You may be able to influence your body composition and musculature.

degree of fat/muscle
