Air Conditioning
An HVAC technician installs, maintains and repairs heating, air conditioning and sometimes refrigeration systems(HVACR) . A technician from this trade may specialize in installation or in maintenance and repair. He or she may also specialize in either heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration work. HVAC is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. HVAC systems design is a subdisipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
The standard work week for an HVAC technician is 40 hours (8 hours a day, 5 days a week). As with many careers in construction, there are peak periods that will require you to work overtime. The number of additional hours you work each week depends on the construction sector and region you work in, and will vary from one job to the next.
Working Conditions

As an HVAC technician your work conditions may vary from one project to another. You may work indoors or outdoors, alone or with a team of construction professionals. Often they need to work in tight spaces that may be hot, uncomfortable, and difficult to move around in. Since HVAC technicians get called because of a heating or cooling unit is broken, sometimes they might find themselves working in uncomfortably hot or cold indoor environments.
Most employers prefer to hire HVAC technicians who have completed formal training, which may include an apprenticeship or classroom instruction. Classroom instruction can take place at a trade or technical school, or at a community college. If you are still attending high school and are focusing your career towards an HVAC technician, taking courses in math, shop and physics can be very helpful. Also if you have any opportunities to learn about plumbing or electrical units, that knowledge can be beneficial as well.
Lastly, Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. This job requires extreme focus 24/7 in order to find proper measurements and give liable quotes.
To become an HVAC technician problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Having numeracy skills will be very helpful. Some personal skills needed to be hired for this trade would be the ability to have a clear voice and be able to take verbal abuse when something does not go as planned, also always complete jobs on time, and make yourself available 24/7.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting,carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing.

To get an apprenticeship, you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, be in good physical shape, and have good math and reading skills.
Apprenticeships generally last three to five years and are jointly sponsored by local chapters of unions. It takes 1 boss to hire an apprentice, and 4 mechanics to hire an apprentice.

An HVAC technicians salary can vary depending on how many hours they are given,how high you are ranked and how many years you've been working in the trade. Extra work/side jobs are extra pay on your own time.The average salary HVAC technicians make a year falls between $35,000-$55,000. As your certification grows, you are able to preform more complex jobs and get higher pay.

Upgrades made by an employer to maintain employment would be, the business providing training, WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space and special safety
To begin employment you will need to receive your grade 12, and have completed an apprenticeship in your trade. Additional education would be a college program or a diploma in general. The ministry looks more towards hiring laborers to cut down costs for a workplace. The ministry enforces more laws and safety, a 3 month trial is given a laborer, and if they do not impress then they're finished.
Some jobs including Roberts Brothers. pays the same salary but also pays for a company truck(gas), and a phone.
The risks, and demands for self employment in the HVAC trade would be Going bankrupt, loss of family time, possibility of no retirement and long hours. If your business has little or no work these may be more pron to you during self employment.
The rewards and benefits of self employment may be the possibility of getting rich, happiness, extra family time, early retirement and free time. These mostly depend on how well your business sits financially and physically.
HVAC trade depending on how well the business sits, and your skills in the trade determines the possibility of going either incorporated or sole proprietor. Incorporated may be better because you cannont be personally sued.
