What was the
Bay of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs was developed during the Eisenhower administration to train Cuban exiles for an invasion of their homeland. The plan anticipated that the Cuban people and elements of the Cuban military would support the invasion. The ultimate goal was the overthrow of Castro and the establishment of a non-communist government friendly to the United States.
Causes and Effects of the Bay of Pigs
The causes of the Bay of Pigs were that the United states was suspicious of Fidel's affiliation with the Soviet Union. The United States wanted to overthrow Fidel in order to hault the spread of communism. They also wanted to stop Castro due to the fact that Cuba was only 90 miles away from Florida.
