A summer flood sweeps Rikki Tikki Tavi, a mongoose,
out of his den. He washes up half drowned in a ditch where a
boy named Teddy finds him and brings him home to nurse him
back to health.

Resolution and Universal Theme
Rikki Tikki Tavi kills Nafaina and her last egg. No more snakes live in or near the bungalow. The universal theme in this story is courage, because Rikki Tikki had enough courage to fight the snakes and defend the bungalow.

Falling Action
Rikki Tikki Tavi kills Nagaina while in the snake hole and crushes the last egg. The family is safe from Nag, Nagiana, and Karait.
There were two types of conflicts in this story.

Rikki Tikki gets taken to the bungalow where he meets Nag and they fight.
Rikki Tikki fights and kills Karait
Rikki Tikki ask Chuchundra for advice on how to defeat Nag and Nagaina. While they are talking they hear the snakes discussing their plans.
Nag slithers through the pipes and into the bathroom where Rikki Tikki bites him until the dad shoots Nag.
Rikki Tikki goes to Darzee and they make plans to lure Nagaina away so Rikki Tikki can crush her eggs.
Nagaina tries to take revenge on the death of Nag by scaring Teddy's family, but Rikki Tikki distracts her by showing her the last egg.
Nagaina agrees to fight Rikki Tikki
Nagaina snatches the egg and slithers off to her snake hole but Darzee's wife distracts her so Rikki Tikki can grab hold of Nagaina's tail.
Nagaina goes down the snake
hole with Rikki Tikki biting her
