Catch Me If You Can Central Characters Frank Abagnale Frank Abagnale has decided that pursuing illegitimate career is not for him and he refers back to the technique of cashing the bogus checks. He is becoming careless and does not pay attention to the work he should be doing with perfection as he writes his name on the back of the check but poses as a FBI and disposed the check on time. Frank also develops a fear in his mind that police might be able to catch him so he moves faster to different locations.Frank’s mood changes quickly making him predictable which causes him to make mistakes. He is pig headed as he does not listen to his conscious. In every chapter Frank finds a woman and uses her to help in his schemes.Frank is building up his ambitions and his criminal skills are also growing as the story proceeds. Whenever he is caught he did not lose his temper and presence of mind due to which he was able to get rid of the cops. He uses every person for his own interest and does not care about others as he uses the girls for his plans and breaks the trust of the judge who did every possible thing to send Frank to his native land. Frank’s luck, presence of mind and positive way of handling the situation always helped him in successfully escaping the cops each time. Rosalie Franks becomes closer to Rosalie because he feels that she is the loveliest woman that she has ever met. He gets close to her because at first she is loyal,clean-cut,intelligent,even-tempered ,,considerate, lovely and she didn’t smoke or drink”

Rosalie is shocked and she flees Frank. rosalie is not what Frank thought and he leaves her but could not forget her as she was the first one who he really loved Monique and her Family Frank meets Monique at the airport and he is mesmerized by Monique so much that he does not remember anything that happened in the bar. Moreover Frank thinked that “she had all of Rosalie’s charms and qualities and none of Rosalie’s inhibitions” but she did and after three days she took him to her parents.Frank is really interested in “Papa lavalier” and increases his relation with Him. Monique’s father started trusting on frank blindfolded and did everything what Frank said but did not know that if Frank can con his father then he can also con him.Actually it seemed the same case as he did to Rosalie but now he used the other characters in the story for his own interest . So Monique’s family unintentionally played a great role in helping Frank to carry out his cons in Paris. Sean O'Riley Sean is really determined and reputed Agent as he is asked to leave all his work and just concentrate on Frank’s case. Because the upper authorities think that he is the only one who can trace him . Moreover Frank is also aware of the fact that Sean is really a good cop and he uses his name and calls Sean O’Riley office to make the lieutenant believe that he is actually a prison inspector. But actually he was unable to catch Frank and arrived at the situation after Frank has played his con. Chapter 6, "Paperhanger in a Rolls-Royce"
Frank decides to take his criminal activities to the next level. The small $100 personal checks he used to forge are worthless compared to the money he might rake in with fake corporate checks. Frank justifies upping his criminal activity by stating that the legal penalty is the same for forging $100 check as for forging a $5,000 check. Frank's company loyalty to Pan Am inspires him to fix a Pan Am "Expense Check." His reasonable assumption is that an expense return check will look different from a standard payroll check, thus even bank clerks familiar with Pan American payroll checks will not become suspicious. Frank prints five hundred checks using a machine called an I-tek camera. Frank cloaks his crudely drafted expense check in a Pan Am envelope, which he mails to himself. The young pilot, Frank Williams, has no trouble convincing a female bank clerk in Eureka, California to cash his check for $568.70.Frank makes a mistake on his check he cashed so he had to impersonate a FBI agent. Frank also meets a lovely woman named Rosalie who he reveals his secret to. The woman tells the police where Frank is and Frank has to leave. Chapter 7, "How to Tour Europe on a Felony a Day"

He obtains a visa to visit Mexico made by a woman named Miss Gunderson. Under the name Frank Williams and decides to worry about a passport after he leaves the United States. In Mexico City, he scores an unexpected bonus. He meets a Pan Am stewardess working for Air France on holiday and has the opportunity to cash her paycheck for her. He gives her $288.15 and in exchange gets a real Pan Am payroll check to use as a template for future forgeries Mexico Chapter 8, "A Small Crew Will Do - It's Just a Paper Airplane" Summary and Analysis

From West Berlin, he flies to New York and contacts the Pan Am offices pretending to be a university placement director. Frank learns that Pan Am regularly sends recruiting teams each fall to the University of Arizona. Frank contacts the University of Arizona and explains that in addition to the regular recruiters, this year Pan Am is also sending actual flight personnel to the campus to interview prospective pilots and stewardesses. Major Themes Broken Homes One of the most important themes in "Catch Me If You Can" is about how a troubled childhood can affect one's life drastically. Frank Abagnale's parents divorced when he was only 14 years old, leaving the decision for him to live with his mother or father. He chose his father as he was more fond of him, and his other siblings had chosen his mother. Because of the destruction of his family life, Frank starts commiting small crimes like stealing candy to sneaking into movies, eventually frauding banks, impersonating pilots, doctors, lawyers, and attorneys. Travelling over 1,000,000 miles on 250 flights, and visting 26 countries.

" I stole every nickel and blew it on fine threads, luxurious lodgings, fantastic foxes, and other sensual goodies. I partied in every capital in Europe and basked on all of the world's most famous beaches." -Frank Abagnale Broken Homes Identity As Frank struggles with coping with living alone, and on the run from the police and his family, he struggles to find who he really is. Posing as different professionals, Frank cannot lie to those who are close to him trying to build a relationship. Franks lowest point of him struggling to find out who he is when he told his fiance Rosalie that he wasn't an airline pilot, but a lying con artist. When Frank returned to her house the next day he saw an FBI car sitting in her driveway. Frank quickly fled the scene and took a flight across the country never to see Rosalie again. Addiction Addiction It started out with Frank trying to find his identity, he developed and addiction to beautiful women, he started conning money from his dad to pay for dates with these women and buying them gifts. As Frank became more dependent on his addiction he brought his crime to the next level, his lady friends on the run helped him as he would spend nights at their house even years after talking to them and stashing money with them, without them knowing it. This addiction for crime that Frank developed pushed him further and further down the road of crime until he could not turn around anymore. Even then he was pushed a step further to becoming the most wanted con artist in the world. Where is Frank Abagnale? Critical Analysis The novel, "Catch Me If Can" is an interesting story about Frank W. Abagnale. A person who traveled around the world stealing money while impersonating a pilot, a doctor, a university teacher, a lawyer, and an FBI agent. Although the writer has written a novel full of detail and suspense, he tended to spend too much time focusing on frivolous details. Other then that the writer did a good job making the book exciting and interesting to read. True Story of Real Fake NODOBY KNOWS!
