The color model CMYK is a subtractive colour model used in printing. The letters stand for cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K).
CMYK

The color mode RGB, is an additve color mode, which the letters stand for red (R), green (G), and blue (B).
RGB
The pica system, is a measurement system used in graphic design. There are six picas in an inch.

Pixel
The point system is a
measurement system
frequently used in graphic
designing. A point is 1/72 of an
inch.
Point
The resolution is the number of
dots/pixels per linear unit of output.
(ex: a motor's resolution is usually 72 dots per inch.
Resolution
A vector is a mathematical concept that describes a graphic according to geometric characteristics.
Vector
A path is a line that creates the shape of an object. Paths can be open or closed.
Open & closed paths
Bitmap Images
A bitmap image, is an image created by using a grid of small squares/pixels.
"Pixel" is a term that stands for picture element, which is a single point on a computer screen.
Fill
The fill option is a tool commonly used to add color to a certain object/ text.
Stroke
The stroke option lets you edit the characteristics of the outline of an object, such as it's weight, color, style, etc.
Align
This option allows you to line up objects at their tops, bottoms, edges, or centres.
Distribute
The distribute tool allows you to space objects evenly, both vertically and horizontally.
Tint
A side or variety of color
Process colour
The colours which make up full colour printing. Cyan ,magenta, yellow and Black.
Blending mode
Determines how pixels are blended with an underlying layer to create a variety of effect.
Mask
A clipping mask is an object whose shape masks other artwork so that only areas that lie within the shape are visible—in effect, clipping the artwork to the shape of the mask.
Opacity
The condition of lacking transparency or translucence, opaqueness.
Transparency
Gradient
Gradient colors are defined by a series of stops along the gradient slider. A stop marks the point at which a gradient changes from one color to the next, and is identified by a square below the gradient slider. The squares display the color currently assigned to each gradient stop. With a radial gradient, the leftmost gradient stop defines the center point’s color fill, which radiates outward to the color of the rightmost gradient stop.

Gradient Stop
A specific color that is defined for a location within the gradient region.
Layer
Layers provide a way to manage all the items that make up your artwork.
Font Style
Your font style allows you to choose how you want the words on your document to look.
Font
A font is a complete set of characters (letters, numbers,
and symbols) that share a common weight, width, and
style.
Stack Order
As objects are drawn in an illustration, they stack up in the order they were created. The first object drawn is at the back of the stack; the last object is at the front of the stack.
You can change the opacity of any kind of object, even editable type. You can also choose a blending mode for any object to control how its colors blend with the colors in the underlying objects.
Effect
Illustrator includes a variety of effects, which you can apply to an object, group, or layer to change its characteristics.
Filter
A porous device for removing impurities or solid particles a liquid or gas passed through it.
Point of origin
The point on which an object rotates or transforms. The point of origin may be within the object or outside the object.
Brazier curve
A Bézier curve is a parametric curve frequently used in computer graphics and related fields. Generalizations of Bézier curves to higher dimensions are called Bézier surfaces, of which the Bézier triangle is a special case
Direction Line
On a curved segment a selected anchor point displays one or two direction lines ending in direction points. The position, direction and length of the directionlines control the shape of a curve.
Drop Shadow
Drop shadow is an option that allows you to create a shadow behind an object/font.
Spot Color
pot color is any color generated by an ink (pure or mixed) that is printed using a single run.
Template
Illustrator comes with tons of templates to help speed up your workflow, like T-shirt templates, calendar templates, and more.
