Career During her first few months at 20th Century Fox, Monroe had no speaking roles in any films but, alongside other new contract players, took singing, dancing and other classes.

Breakthrough: 1948–1951

Early Life "If you're gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty." -Marilyn Monroe Personal Life Monroe had three marriages, all of which ended in divorce. The first was to James Dougherty, the second to Joe DiMaggio, and lastly to Arthur Miller.
"My marriage didn't make me sad, but it didn't make me happy either. My husband and I hardly spoke to each other. This wasn't because we were angry. We had nothing to say. I was dying of boredom."- Marilyn's thoughts on marriage to James Dougherty.

Her marriage to Joe DiMaggio was a very well known relationship that was popular in Hollywood at this time.

On May 19, 1962, Monroe made her last significant public appearance, singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" at a birthday party for President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden.

Monroe reportedly had an affair with President John F. Kennedy. So, this is something a lot of people know her for because it was such a big scandal. Awards and Nominations Marilyn won 4 Golden Globes in her lifetime.

She also got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.

She has a numerous amount of other awards, but these being her most famous. How she died On August 5th, 1962 LAPD recieved a call from Marilyn's psychiatrist saying that Monroe was found dead in her Los Angeles home.

They recorded her cause of death was "acute barbiturate poisoning, resulting from a "probable suicide.

Joe DiMaggio took control of the funeral arrangements which consisted of only 31 close family and friends.

Her casket was solid bronze and was lined with champagne colored silk.
In her hands was a small bouquet of pink teacup roses.
For the next 20 years, red roses were placed in a vase attached to the crypt, courtesy of DiMaggio. Payton Johnson 4A Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1st, 1926.

She was the third child born to Gladys Pearl Baker

Gladys was mentally unstable and financially unable to care for the young Norma Jeane, so she placed her with foster parents Albert and Ida Bolender of Hawthorne, California, where she lived until she was seven.

After she lived with them her mother took her back, but she went back and forth through numerous family members. Marilyn Monroe(born Norma Jeane Mortenson) was an American actress, model, and singer, who became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of commercially successful motion pictures during the 1950s and early 1960s. Her real breakthrough was in 1950's "The Asphalt Jungle", and she went on to feature in a number of notable, and increasingly large, roles in major films such as "All About Eve" with Bette Davis, and "Monkey Business" with Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers.
