Transcript of hetronormativity and femininity in disney

Thesis Female characters in Disney movies portray heteronormativity by having extremely traditional gender roles. Feminine Heternormativity Most female characters in Disney movies portray the normal traditional roles for females such as being portraied as being weak, submissive and domisticated. Media example one Disney's Cinderella work song Media exaple two Beauty and the Beast Evaluation ---------> ---------> Example one "Cinderella work song"

It describes how women are only useful
for domestic house work and traditional
females roles for only staying at home. Also
it shows that females have to work in
the house, cleaning and child rearing,
to be able to function in society.

In the movie Cinderella it teaches young
girls that thier dreams can only be reached
through a male figure.

It also shows at the end of this clip that men
do not do sewing becuase thats a typical female role. Example two "Beauty and the Beast"

In the movie Beauty and the Beast, Belle is expected to marry a certain man becuase of normal traditional gender pressures from society.

In this clip it shows that Belle is only seen as a trophy wife that ia only used from her appearance and it teaches young girls that they need to be beautiful to get a man. Conclusion --------> Example one: "Cinderella work song" and example two "Beauty and the Beast". Both of these examples support my thesis and reinforces the idea of feminine heteronormativity in the world of Disney by supporting tradfitional gender roles for young girls to follow to fit in to our normal society.
