Transcript of Pythons
You can find pythons/snakes in sub-Saharan Africa, through parts of southern Asia, Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea, and Malaysia. They are also found in jungles, tropical and subtropical areas. Along with farm animals, pythons will feed on wild animals such as lizards, monkeys and antelope. The larger the meal, the longer it takes to digest. This means that a python may only need to eat 4-5 times a year! Diet: Pythons are constrictors, which mean that they will ‘squeeze’ the life out of their prey. They curl
themselves around their prey and with each breathe the creature takes the snake will squeeze a little tighter until they stop breathing completely. Once the heart stops the prey is going swallow whole creature. The entire animal is digested in the snake’s stomach except for their fur or feathers. The ‘extra stuff’ gets passed out as poop. How They Kill Their Pray: Interesting Facts: Where Pythons can be found: Many pythons lay eggs in the middle to late February. The eggs will hatch about the middle of April so the baby will be born in warm weather but also rainy weather. this is very good for the growth of this baby it will normally lay 4 eggs but not always. Family: Attack and Defense: The most common way for a python to defend itself would be to lunge, bite and even then it usually varies between species on whether it would, continue biting, hold on, or run away after. Pythons are about 7 feet long
Snakes are more related to lizards than to other reptiles
Snakes can have over 300 pairs of ribs.
Pythons never stop growing and must shed their skin when it gets to small.
Pythons can swallow food items up to three times the size of their head.
Pythons do not usually attack humans unless they are stressed, mishandled or provoked.
