The Timeline of America This is a timeline of the U.S. from 1804 to 1867. IN 1820, Slavery was banned west
of the Mississippi. 1824- James Bridger explores
what is now Yellowstone park.
1829- Andrew Jackson is elected president.
1829- The Baltimore-Ohio Railraod was
started. 1831-38- The Trail of Tears is walked by
hundreds of Indians.
1844- The first telegraph
is sent. 1848- The California Gold
Rush begins. 1850- Levi Strauss invents blue jeans. 1857- Dred Scott is a slave in a Northern industrial state, but it was ruled that his old master could come into the free state and capture him. 1859- Oregon is declared a U.S. State. 1804- Lewis and Clark start their
great journey. 1858-59- The Lincoln-Douglas
debate argued slavery. 1860- Lincoln elected president. 1861- CIvil War starts after a attack at Fort Sumter, South Caroina. 1862- The Emancipation Proclamation is signed by Abraham Lincoln. 1865- John Wilkes Booth
shot Lincoln at Fords Theatre. 1867- The U.S. purchases Alaska from Russia. Thanks for watching!
