Transcript of Technology Timeline
While television had been invented many years previous, the 50s saw nearly every family buying a television set, and nearly everyone watching television for longer and longer periods of time. Television broadcasts became our number one source of news, information, and entertainment during the 50s. Live news broadcasts were now possible coast to coast, and this has changed our world forever.
The 60s have been described by historians as the ten years having the most significant changes in history. By the end of the 60s humanity had entered the space age by putting a man on the moon. The 60s were influenced by the youth of the post-war baby boom - a generation with a fondness for change and far-out gadgets.
Technology in the 1960s
The 1970s' decade was an important period for America and the rest of the world. Technological innovations, starting from the introduction of floppy disks to the launch of Microsoft, Sony Walkman and VCR, first test-tube baby to the release of the sci-fi/fantasy movie Star Wars was witnessed. There was a lot more innovation in the field of science and technology, entertainment, sports, political news, and arts.

First credit card invented by Ralph Schneider
Transistor radio invented by Texas Instruments in 1953.
First hovercraft invented in 1956.

The audio cassette was invented in 1962.
Spacewar, the first video game is invented.
Compact disk invented in 1965.
First handheld calculator!
Floppy disk invented in 1970.
VCR or video cassette invented 1971.
Cell phone invented in 1979.
Walkman invented in 1979.
First IBM personal computer invented 1980
First Apple Macintosh invented 1984.
Fuji introduces first disposable camera.
Technology in the 1980s
One would best remember 1980s as the decade of MTV, Pac-Man, and MASH. Techonology wise, many of the most popular consumer products still around today were invented in the 80s for example: cell phones and home computers.
World Wide Web, HTTP, HTML created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990.
DVD invented in 1995.
Technology in the 1990s
The 1990s were a time of globalization which science and technology saw notable growth. The decade brought some of the greatest scientific findings and technological inventions in human history. Most notably, was the invention of the World Wide Web. Without it, we wouldn't have the vast internet that we have today.
Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of WWW)
First iPod music player unveiled by Apple in 2001.
Youtube invented in 2005 and named most important invention of that year by Time Magazine.
Technology in 2000s and the Future
Technology has significantly grown and been invested in for the past decade. Many people see the vast potential in technology. Especially in the internet with giants like Google and Amazon.
