1960 Fashion Timeline 1950- 1800-2000 1980- 1990 1800-1810
a high waistline and skirt
with petticoats or hoops
underneath 1830-1840
Wool, linen, cotton and silk were now the most usual material to make clothes. Sleeves became enormous and necklines became very wide. 1820-1830
the sleeves and shoulders got
bigger with wings. Patterns and
decoration and colour were now
used much more making the
dresses nicer 1840-1850
Woman started wearing bloomers.
The best clothing you can have
now are skirts with lower waist and tight bodices 1920-1930 1890-1900
sleeves were huge and
dresses were only big
in the back bit until the next year 1810-1820
Soft colours returned, sleeves got fuller at the shoulder, firmer fabrics were used to make the clothes 1850-1860
Off shoulder v-necked tops,
flowers and bows on skirts 1860-1870
hoops were replaced by a new undergarment that did change the shape of the long dress. 1870-1880
a very small hoop was worn
to keep the mass of fabric away
from the feet. Fabrics were light
in colour and weight. 1880-1890
Accessories such as gloves
hats etc. were the main part
of fashion. 1900-1910 1910-1920 1930-1940 1940-1950 1960-1970 1970-1980 1990-2000 the sports wear changed a lot especially the swimming and cycling wear the first world war starts women go into uniform as they join the services to support
the war effort Hollywood movie stars influenced the people
with there beautiful styles that
were mad out of the best
fabric in that century the second world war starts shortage of money leads to
shortages of fabric
and clothing Mary quant is
often credited
a lot with inventing
the miniskirt
which people started
which people started wearing
from that time until now fashion is
by the youthful
styles worn in
"swinging" London trends skinny legged jeans and also glam rock becomes the latest Shoulder pads were used for both men and women, 1990 -2000 fashion changed
an awful lot because in the olden days it was fancy
clothes but now it is the pop age and not only
the pop age people also started wearing expensive clothes and fabrics shops set trends
for women with
the level of the
dresses and skirts
up to the knees for
the first time
