Transcript of The Fault In Our Stars

Hazel Grace has never been outgoing except for when her mother made her go to Cancer Kid Support Group once a week. There she meets Augustus Waters. After that everything is turned upside down. A trip to another country, romantic picnics, and a new best friend. Best friends stick together through thick and thin, even when it could be the end.
Augustus "Gus" Waters
Augustus has been remission for a year and a half. He is very witty and is very dramatic, with his romantic gestures. Almost instantly he falls in love with Haze.
It all started when Haze met Augustus at Cancer Kid Support Group in the church basement. "...the basement of a stone-walled Episcopal church shaped like a cross. We all sat in a circle right in the middle of the cross, where the two boards would have met, where the heart of Jesus would have been."
Amsterdam is where Augustus and Hazel went to find Peter Van Houten, the author of Hazels favorite book. Hazel described Amsterdam as "It looked nothing like America. It looked like an old painting, but real-everything achingly idyllic in the morning light-and I thought about how wonderfully strange it would be to live in a place where almost everything had been built by the dead."
Why we choose this book
1. We both heard it was a really good book

2. We both have never seen the movie and wanted to read the book before we saw the movie.

3. We both like John Green books
Hazel Grace
Hazel was diagnosed with terminal cancer at age 13. Knowing one day that she will die, she keeps away from most people. She believes that it is best for them, so when she does die she won t hurt them. That all changes when she meets Augustus Waters. She lets him in and he changes her for the better.
