Pitfalls

'creative firms as fun, low-stress working place with low conflict'
'put people in a group and they are creative' - rethink last session-
You need a real, committed group with a deviant or slow learner who questions 'ususal' stuff
'Management has to implement creativity'
...we will figure out together later on, that management can help but a lot more needs to foster creativity.

Making
Money
"creativity is a function of the quantity of work produced"
"If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you are right."
"Hiring people who make you uncomfortable, even those you don't like, is another way to find a few useful misfits who will ignore and reject the organizational code, increasing the variety in hat people think, say and do. "
think inside the box to be more creative, cause that's the way our brain is programmed!!
slack
optimism
hubris
Framework of mindless work (high cognitive capacity)
Competition with Tolerance (psychological safety)
Reverse engineering
Gametime!!
Is creativity necssary for change?
Yes?!
No!?
Why yes?
Why no?
In the article “Creativity and the role of the leader” by Ambalie & Khaire managers have three possibilities to approach creativitiy. One of them is to tap ideas from all ranks.
“encourage and enable collaboration”
“open the organization to diverse perspectives”.

In the article “Creativity and the role of the leader” by Ambalie & Khaire three points are mentioned to manage for creativity.
These are 1. Include slack time, 2. Increase managerial hubris, 3. Increase euphemism
3. increase optimism
In the article by Ambale and Khaire: "Creativity and the role of the leader" , the authors emphasize that the role of the leader in the creativity process is important.
a) A central message of this paper: One doesn`t manage for creativity. Instead: one manages creativity
b) The managers should not look outside the organization for sources of creativity; they have to tap their own organization`s creativity instead
c) Effeciency and discovery should be given equal attention in all phases of creative work
d) Few people have equal capabilities in idea generation and idea commercialization
d)
ln meeting 7 (Creativity), we discussed the
article by Elsbach and Hargadon (2006):"Enhancing
creativity through "mindless" work: a framework of
workday design". The authors introduced the concept
of 'mindless' work. This is work, which is low in cognitive
difficulty and high in performance pressure.
