Obedience: the Love Language of Heaven
My story....
After college I became a nurse.
Since Jesus was sinless and we are not, sometimes it is actually quite hard to go around doing good!

In other words, we need HELP.
"If you love me, you will obey me." John 14:15

"The man who says, "I know him", but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in him. Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did." 1 John 2: 4-6
Acts 10:38 says,

"He went around doing good.."
"Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32
Obedience brings Truth that sets us free
How did Jesus walk?
Thankfully, God provided all the help we need when He gave us Jesus.
"For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." Romans 5:19
Obedience --> Truth (Jesus)--> Freedom
I grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts about 5 miles away.
When I made the decision to obey God and give my life to Christ, I walked away from:

Friends, Places, Apartment, Job, and Family

I am the middle of 3, my brother is 33, my sister is 25. My parents have been married for 34 years.
I came to Christ when I was a little girl around 10 years old but it wasn't until I was 24 that I realized I needed to fully surrender my whole life to Christ. It was then that my life became marked by obedience.
"Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing and I will receive you. I will be a father to you and you will be my sons and daughters," says the Lord Almighty." 2 Cor 6:17-18

For 7 years I spent my weekends at parties, bars, and clubs. Now I spend my weekends in church.

Before I gave my life to Christ, I lived in a small apartment in Charlestown...my roommate stole money from me. Now I live for free.
Before Christ, I had friends that were not friends.
Now I have friends who are God's friends
Before Christ, I worked the night shift in a hard job and negative environment. Today I work the day shift on a wonderful floor with amazing coworkers and patients. I serve as the nurse for Northpoint Bible College and I have the opportunity to be a medical missionary all over the world.
Before Christ, it was hard to even talk to my family. Today God has helped me to love them like He does while giving me a new family in Him.
"Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them. I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you," declares the Lord." Jer 15:19-20
"Sure you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor." Isaiah 55:5
My Beautiful Family
Growing up things were tough. My parents were not equally yoked. My mom read me the Bible, my dad drank. I had a relationship with God as a little girl but when I went to college at 17, for the next 7 years I lived in a way that hurt the heart of God.
After being a nurse for 2 years, God did a radical thing in my life.
When I came to Christ and moved to a new apartment to begin healing, I began to pray for a church family and God brought me to Calvary. It was there that 2 years after I attending I found myself applying to Bible College.
In January of 2010, I took a class at Zion Bible College and loved it. I felt the Holy Spirit heavy on my heart at the end of the semester. I felt God was prompting me to decide whether I was going to actually go to school or let this go.
God spoke to me one day and said, "Do you love your apartment more than you love me?" I said, "I don't know." He said, "You do know." As I surrendered in my spirit, He said, "I will bless you."
The next day I said to God, "If that was you, please confirm it to me in your Word."
Shortly thereafter I read Jeremiah 3:8, "I will choose you- one from a town and two from a clan and bring you to Zion. Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart who will lead you will knowledge and understanding."
I left my apartment, my friends, my furniture, my cats, and decreased my hours at work.
At 27, I moved from a beautiful apartment and great career to a very small dorm room surrounded by lots of people much younger than me. Though it wasn't easy I knew I was in the will of God. He encouraged me all along the way.

"See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord." Col 4:17
When I graduated Bible College, I asked God for the next step. After much prayer, I felt God put in my heart to stay at school, offer myself as the nurse, and live for free.

I asked God to confirm this in his word. I read, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while and I will be with you and will bless you." Genesis 26:3
Today I believe I live in the blessing of God because I live my life based on what He tells me to do. I believe obedience truly is the
"I am the way and the truth, and the life..." John 14:6
