The Three States of Matter Solid, Liquid, Gas Georgia Performance Standard Physical Science S2P1. Students will investigate the properties of matter and changes that occur in objects a. Identify the three common states of matter as solid, liquid, or gas. What is Matter? Matter is everything around you. Matter is made up of atoms and molecules. If it has mass and takes up space, it is MATTER!!! Solids have definite shape and definite volume. Liquids Liquids have indefinite shape and definite mass.
Liquids take the shape of their container. Gas Gas has indefinite shape and indefinite volume.
