Lincoln's mother died of milk poisoning when he was only nine years old.
The milk poisoning swept across southern Indiana.

Lincoln was the 16th president. Not only was he president, he was president during the American Civil War.

The first election he lost was the Illinois General Assembly.
The second election that he lost was for the U.S. Congress.
The third and fourth elections he lost were for the U.S. Senate.
The fifth election that he lost was a campaign for a vice-presidential nomination.

Abraham Lincoln is the tallest president the United States has ever had. He was 6 feet, 4 inches tall. When he wore his hat, he was almost 7 feet tall!

Lincoln was the first U.S. president to be born outside the original thirteen colonies.
Another first
Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. He was killed by John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865.
