Cellphones can be distracting in school
since they can be on their phone all the time and not listen to the teacher. They can even be using websites to get answers.

What others said is true and we kind of agree, but we think that phones are a really big distraction during school time and can harm students' learning. Students can also use phones to cyberbully other students.(ForandAgainst)

Mobile phones can cause a distraction in education. They can disturb teachers and students. For example, if you were working hard on a piece of work, concentrating hard, and a person's phone rings, it disrupts the whole class. You may become side-tracked or the teacher may be interrupted during speaking to the class. Thus teaching would be constantly disrupted if this kept happening. Thus education standards would deteriorate. Looking then at long term effects, if this was happening every day, you would be wasting five minutes a day, so nearly half an hour a week, and so that would be over ten hours a year of disruption.(StudyMode)
Yes, student should use their phones at school. We are preparing students for adult life; we should therefore allow them to use the tools that they will be using in their adult life. If we are preparing our students for life after school, we should allow them to use the tools they will be using when they get there. How many jobs can you think of right now where a smart phone is not beneficial? Mechanics order parts on their phone, engineers view blueprints, doctors calculate dosages, and grocers check inventory. The list is endless. By the time our students enter their professions, the need to utilize mobile technology will be even stronger. Not preparing our students for that world is negligent. (Debate)

Recently, the use of cell phones for cheating on tests, a new method of passing notes, and even cyber bullying have become major issues. Brevard County already has strict policies regarding phone use in schools, if caught with a cell phone students get a referral, their phone is confiscated, and after repeat offenses they can lose their phone privileges. In conclusion, we think that cellphones should not be allowed in school for the reason of cyberbullying, the cheating of tests, and distractions during learning time.
Cellphones can be really distracting and can harm students learning severely. This can ruin the student's life and they could easily not get a job. We just believe that cellphones should not be allowed in school.
