STRUCTURE OF THE HAIR MARY GONZALEZ
RHS
COSMO 1 Surface of the skin is the hair root,
which is enclosed with a hair follicle. At the base of the hair follicle is the dermal papilla. This feed by the bloodstream which carries nourishment to produce new hair,
which is very important to hairgrowth
because it contains receptors for male
hormones and androgens. Androgens regulate hairgrowth and in scalp hair Androgens may cause the hair follicle to get progressively smaller and the hairs to become finer in individuals who are genetically predisposed to this type of hair loss.
Hair is composed of strong
structural protein called keratin.
This is the same kind of protein
that makes up the nails and the
outer layer of skin. Each strand of hair consists of three layers:

>>>An innermost layer

>>>The middle layer

>>>The outermost layer Innermost layer or medulla which is only present in large thick hairs. Middle layer known as the cortex.
The cortex provides strength and
both the color and the texture of hair Outermost layer is known as the cuticle. The cuticle is thin and colorless and serves as a protector of the cortex. Hair follicle grows in a lot
of cycles, which one of them
can be broken down into phases.
1st >> Anagen- growth phase are
about 85% in the phase and they
can vary from 2 to six years.
2nd >> Catagen- Transitional phase
an lasts about 1 or 2 weeks.Hair
follicle shinks about 1/6 of what
the normal length is. 3rd >> Telogen-resting phase they last
about 5 to 6 weeks. Then the hair follicle
starts all over again. Also a healthy life
can play a very important part in
the growth of your hair. THE END
