Three Fables By Aesop Who was Aesop? He lived 1500 years ago in Ancient Greece and Rome. He was an avid storyteller, but not all of Aesop's fables are his own. Some believe that Aesop was from Africa because he was once a slave. Many fables were grouped together into a collection now know as Aesop's fables. What is a fable? Do you know any fables? THe Lion and the Mouse The Sun and the Wind THe Hare and the Tortuise A fable is a short story in which the main purpose is to teach a lesson about life - usually stated at the end of the story in the form of a moral.
