Drifting Community By: Cory Meloy Example of Drifting What is drifting? Drifting started in Japanese Touring Car races almost 40 years ago.
Racers began practicing the technique of drifting in the mountain roads of Japan.
Over the years, drifting has been getting more popular every year, and today drifting is all over the world with many different international competitions. History of Drifting A style of driving where the driver intentionally oversteers while turning, causing the rear to lose traction and slide. Drifting Competitions Formula Drift D1 Grand Prix Tandem Drifting Two racers go at the same time. The guy in the rear must follow the leader and stay as close as possible to them. The lead needs to keep a good line and allow the rear driver not to pass him.
After they finish, they switch positions and race again.
