Global

Warming

Prevention of
Global

Warming
A
BIG
Problem
What is
Global

Warming
?
Global

warming
is a gradual increase in the earth's average surface temperature, caused by an increased amount of
Greenhouse Gases
in the atmosphere, which trap the sun's heat. The primary
greenhouse gases
in earth's atmosphere are
water vapor
,
carbon dioxide
,
methane
,
nitrous oxide
, and ozone.
A
Greenhouse Gas
is a gas in an atmosphere that
absorbs
and
emits radiation
within
thermal infrared
range.

What are the
environmental
effects of
Global

Warming
?
Some effects of
global

warming
on the

environment
include but are not limited to:
Melting of the
polar ice caps
.
Rise in
sea level
.
More frequent and severe
hurricanes
.
Increased
dry soil
.
Increased and more severe
wildfires
.
Potential expanding of
deserts
.
Global

Warming
causes a variety of problems that are not only
environmental
, but
social
,
economic
,
religious
, and
violence
related as well.
What are the
economic
effects of
global

warming
?
The price tag of
global

warming
comes with a cost that nobody could pay. The methane gas being emitted from the
melting

ice
in the
polar

caps
will cost the world as much money as the whole global economy in 2012.
What are the
religious
effects of
global

warming
?
Global

warming
seems to be a "sign" for the "end of times" for many, if not most
religions
. While most
religions
are preparing for the end, they are still continuing to discredit each other, claiming they are right and the others are wrong, instead of coming together over the revelation of the end of the world. The tension created by this is making it possible that a casual confrontation could lead to a riot, and possibly an all-out war.
What effects does
global

warming
have on
society
and
violence
?
"Scientists have recently concluded that higher temperatures, or higher extremes in precipitation - either more or less of it - are associated with higher levels of human conflict around the world, throughout time, in different types of societies."
Global warming is not only associated with petty fights and small crimes, but individual aggression, such as murder or rape, to country-level political instability and international wars.
What needs to be done isn't always what the government decides to do. With concern to global warming, this is true as well. Instead of trying to prevent and/or reverse global warming, the government has decided to allow only a minimum yearly increase in the temperature of the earth.
What is really needed is change at national and global levels. Only by convincing leaders to create laws that improve our energy policy, and pushing companies to adopt sustainable business practices, as well as developing sustainable energy on a global level, can we see real change. (edf.org)
A whopping
$60 trillion
.
Our economy these days seems to focus only on immediate gratification. Using what we can now to become richer and more comfortable, instead of conserving resources and developing technology to better the health of our planet.
If we as a planet leave nothing but a shell of what it once was for our future generations, what have we accomplished?
Imagine for a moment if we are remembered as the generation who destroyed the Earth beyond repair, just because of our selfish wants.
The average yearly rise in ocean level is3mm. However, only a 200mm rise would result in
740,000
people becoming homeless in Nigeria.

Or
$60,000,000,000,000
