Transcript of Uranus
~ has 28 known moons
~ not named after "Greek Mythology"
~ named from shakespeare i.e. Romeo & Julliet
~ names of large moons are: Puck, Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon
~ first two moon discovered were: Titania and Oberon
MISSION TO URANUS...
Uranus is called the blue planet and is the seventh planet from the sun. It was discovered on March 13, 1781. Uranus would be one of the four gas giants, in our galaxy. The name Uranus came from an ancient god of the sky. From previous research, Uranus was found the most coldest planet in our solar system and also the third largest. Uranus can be a very interesting planet because of a special feature you will learn about in our presentation.
~ Discovered on March 13, 1781
~ William Herschel discovered Uranus
~ He used a telescope that he had made himself
~ He saw one star that orbited the sun
~ William discovered the star had two moons
~ He then named it "Uranus"
Welcome to Uranus!
I discovered it! Me! Over here!
What It IS MADE OUT OF?
~ made out of rock and ice
~ Atmosphere is very thick
~ atmosphere made from 83% Hydrogen, 15% Helium, 2% Methane
~ Not visible without telescope
~ greenish blue color from what it is made out of
~ has big rocky core
~ because of planetery preassure trillions of diamonds may be on Uranus' s surface
~ made from tiny crystals
~ High level clouds are white
~ Medium level clouds are green
~ Low level clouds are blue
Astronauts think that on the surface of Uranus may be a ocean that might be 2760 degrees Celsius.
~ Uranus has 13 rings
~ Made out of black dust particles & big rocks
~ in 1977 astronomers James Elliot, Edward Dunham and Douglas Mink had discovered it
WHY ITS TILTED?
~ The distance from the 2, 871,000,000 km
~ It takes Uranus 30,684 days to orbit the sun (not earth days)
~ Uranus would weight 14.54 kg on Earth
~ Uranus normal mass is 86.81 kg
~ one rotation of Uranus would take 17.2 hours
~ Uranus is almost identical to Neptune
~ Earth has more gravitational force
~ Uranus was first called "George's Star"
INTERESTING FACTS!!! :D
That number should be against the law...
Did you know that Uranus spin on its side? Astronauts believe that an object big as Earth smashed into Uranus , which caused it to tilt on its side. This is why Uranus orbits and spins on its side.
I'm awesome, because i'm tilted. Unlike they other planets.... HA HA HA
Thats not fair! i only get one natural satellite (moon)... I DESERVE MORE! GIVE ME MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a good thing.. RIGHT?
I have so many followers! I'm so popular!
Seat belt check!
You may proceed...
Blah blah blah..
I have the power...
The power to turn green!
Launching rocket, 5,4,3,2,1.....
Passing by mars....
Passing by Jupiter...
Passing by Saturn...
NEXT STOP URANUS!
