Transcript of Steps of the Scientific Method

#1: Problem The Scientific Method
The problem, or research question, is the single most important part of the scientific method. Every part of your project is done to answer this question. #3: Hypothesis The hypothesis is a statement representing your educated guess, which you propose is the solution to the problem. #4: Test your hypothesis Independent Variable Control Dependent Variable Constants #5: Record & analyze data What sort of results did you get? Use tables, and then maybe graphs #6: Conclusion The conclusion is the summary of the research and the results of the experiment. This is where you answer the problem and make a statement about whether your data supported your hypothesis or not #8: Application How can the knowledge learned be used, and what are the next steps? #2 Research the Problem Gather information on the problem #7: Repeat trials Validate the experiment by repeating and getting the same results
