Ok! Let's do this! Don't forget to make THOUGHTFUL claims and use ACCURATE, RELEVANT evidence. AND don't forget to be respectful to your classmate in their leadership of this discussion.
Exploring Vivid Description
1. Fold your paper (hamburger fold)
2. We will be drawing TWO monsters based on two descriptions I will read. I will read each description multiple times. You draw what you think the monster looks like. Only look at your own paper, and when finished, we will compare.
Now it's your turn...
I'm going to give you a handout including LOTS of good, vivid, descriptive words. Take a moment and HIGHLIGHT 10-12 words on each page you think you might truly use in your writing.
Now, it is your job to write a VIVID DESCRIPTION of a monster - one you create using your imagination. When your description is finished, you will draw your monster.
Next, you will be partnered with someone. You and your partner will SWITCH descriptions and draw each other's monsters. Let's see how good your description is. If you make it vivid enough, your partner's drawing and yours should look similar!
