Jennifer Lopez was born Jennifer Lynn Muñiz on July 24, 1969, in the Bronx, New York. She is the middle child of Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez, she has an elder sister, Leslie, and a younger sister, Lynda.At the age of five, Lopez began taking singing and dancing lessons. While attending her final year of high school, Lopez learned about a film casting that was seeking several teenage girls for small roles. She auditioned and was cast in My Little Girl (1986).Lopez acted as Myra, a young woman at a center for troubled girls. After she finished filming her role in the film, Lopez realized that she wanted to become a "famous movie star". To please her parents, though, she enrolled in Baruch College, only to drop out after one semester. She told her parents her dream of becoming a movie star, but they insisted that it was a "really stupid" idea and that "no Latinos did that". The differences in opinions led Lopez to move out of their family home and into an apartment in Manhattan.
Impact on society
Lopez teamed up with Amnesty International to setup a bilingual website aimed to increase awareness about Mexican women that were being murdered (femicide) after learning that 350 young woman have been killed in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua since 1993.
Lopez donated an item to watchmaker Nixon to be made into a watch. The sale of the product was sent to benefit the MusiCares MAP fund which is a pool of resources set aside to address addiction and recovery needs of members of the music community.
Lopez also did a photoshoot to help raise awareness for Delete Blood Cancer (DKMS).

Over a decade ago Jennifer Lopez was an anonymous background dancer on the second-rated sketch comedy show In Living Color, and now she's a very well known entertainer, businesswoman, philanthropist and producer. In 2001, she was the first actress to have a movie and an album top the charts in the same week. She's the richest person of the Latin American decent, and the most influential American entertainer. Lopez is a mother of twins, Emma and Max and is great exaplme to all women that you dont have to stop your life when you have kids.Jennifer Lopez works hard and dreams big.
Career and Accomplishments
Lopez moved to Los Angeles with her high school boyfriend, David Cruz to continue work as a dancer on In Living Color where she worked until 1993. Also, from 1993 to 1996 Lopez did movies and TV shows that was until March of 1997, when Lopez got the role of Selena in the movie Selena. Selena grossed a sum of $35 million in the U.S. This was the her debut movie.

Her biggest recognition came from starring in the movie Selena in 1997. This movie opened all doors for Jennifer Lopez, and from there on the Jennifer Lopez biography has become an incredible story of success. She was the first Latina actress to be paid $1,000,000 for a movie role.

Shortly after, Lopez got back from Europe she auditioned and gained her first regular high-profile job as a Fly Girl dancer on the television program In Living Color.She applied for the job after one of the cast members was unavailable to continue with the show. Out of 2,000 applicants, Lopez made it to the finals.
