Many adolsecents view the transition to high school as the time in their lives when the decisions they make start to directly impact the course oftheir adult lives. This is complicated by a myriad of physical and emotional changes experienced by adolescents (Cauley & Jovanovich, 2006). Improving the Transition
to High School A little background... There are a number of programs designed to streamline the secondary transition (orientation sessions, freshman academies, professional learning communities, early start programs, advisory programs, etc.) but coordination of efforts between middle and high schools is often minimal at best. What are we doing about this issue? So, how can we use research to change practice in order to improve our current reality?
