Transcript of Cloning

What is cloning? According to the Genetic Science Learning Center, cloning is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. Cloning How is cloning done? Cloning can be done a couple of ways with the most common being artificial embryo twinning and somatic cell nuclear transfer. Artificial embryo twinning mimics the natural process of creating identical twins. Somatic cell nuclear transfer takes a different approach to artificial embryo twinning but contributes to the same outcome. What are some ethical issues about cloning? When we here about cloning we only hear about successful outcomes, but the truth is cloning has a very high failure rate. Clones that do survive usually suffer large offspring syndrome which means there much bigger at birth than their natural counterparts. This can lead to breathing, blood flow and other problems.
Why do we clone? We clone for more food production, which increases the quantity which allows more money to be made. We clone mice for medical research to try to figure out cures for diseases on humans. My opinion is that cloning is wrong. I feel this way because is it fair to bring a human on to this earth for whatever reason, this will cause that child to never have a normal life again. Do you call that fair. Things may evan come to the point that someone gets hurt because this would be a big part of history if it were to leak out. I also feel it's wrong to clone animals for food production is it fair to get that animal to the point where it is time to be slaughtered. What is my opinion?
