Why Study Entrepreneurship, Business and Finance?
In 2011, according to U.S. Census Bureau data, there were 5.68 million employers in the U.S. with fewer than 500 workers
Of those businesses, businesses with less than 20 workers made up of 89.8%.
Academy Curriculum
The Entrepreneurship and Business Academy offers three curriculum strands:
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Business Information Technology
Corporate Finance
Academy Partnerships
Entrepreneurs Can Change the World
Kempsville High School is a GREAT place to be a student!!
According to Forbes Magazine:

There are almost 28 million small businesses in the US and over 22 million are self employed
Over 50% of the population work in a small business
Small businesses have generated over 65% of new jobs since 1995
Approximately 543,000 new businesses start each month
7 out of 10 new employers survive at least 2 years,
Half at least 5 years
And a third at least 10 years
And a quarter stay in business 15 years or more
Benefits of Entrepreneurship Education
Creation of entrepreneurial thinkers who also have the skills and tools to start their own businesses

Students enrolled in the academy will:

participate in job shadowing, mentoring, and/or internship programs that extend, enrich, and refine student learning and create linkages with the academic and business communities.

complete an internship experience with a culminating presentation and digital portfolio in the senior year.
