Find the Odd One Out!!!

Find the Odd one Out!!!

We all want our students to develop
thinking skills as the content changes.
Though not set in stone, we could divide
thinking skills in three main categories:
-Understanding input
-Transforming information
-Generating output

Odd one out

1. The teacher displays four items, numbered 1-4 corresponding to student numbers 1-4. One item does not belong in the set based on a specific attribute.
For example, the items may all be symmetrical shapes, except one.

2. Students think if they are the Odd One Out.
Students each write either “I’m Out” or “I fit” and the reason why.

3. Teammates do a RoundRobin, each in turn showing and sharing their thinking.

4. Team reaches consensus on the Odd One Out.

5. Teacher reveals the answer and explains the rule.

6. Teams check answer and celebrate.

*Optional: Teams may also share their thoughts or a different rule.
