the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.
SOCIAL ISSUES
technology has also brought up negative aspects to our society, including :

Cyber bullying
Obesity
Addiction
ADDICTION
1. Elevated Exasperation

2. Deteriorated Patience

3. Declining Writing Skills

4. Lack of Physical Interactivity

CYBERBULLYING
Sending mean messages or threats to a person's email account or cell phone
Spreading rumors online or through texts
Posting hurtful or threatening messages on social networking sites or web pages
Stealing a person's account information to break into their account and send damaging messages
Pretending to be someone else online to hurt another person
Taking unflattering pictures of a person and spreading them through cell phones or the Internet
Sexting, or circulating sexually suggestive pictures or messages about a person
STATISTICS:

Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online. 1 in 4 has had it happen more than once.
70% of students report seeing frequent bullying online.
Over 80% of teens use a cell phone regularly, making it the most common medium for cyber bullying.
EFFECTS OF CYBERBULLYING
Suicide:
A study in Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying
10 to 14 year old girls may be at even higher risk for suicide, according to the study above

Victims of Cyberbullying Experience higher rates of depression than both cyberbullies and Bullying- victims.
Signs of depression include: Sudden lost of interest in activities

Anxiety:
social Anxiety Disorder: scared of being judged by others, or behaving in a way that might cause embarrassment.
Symptoms: panic, fear,uneasiness, nightmares, and problems sleeping.

"Nomophobia":people who experience anxiety when they dont have access to mobile technologies
turn off your phone while driving
turn phone off for an entire night
go outside and take a walk without your phone, enjoy what nature has to offer!
EFFECTS
60% of ppl that listen to music through headphones pump it past safety levels
6-8 hours infront of a computer can cause: shoulder, arm and neck problems
sitting infront of a tv strains your eyes.
sleeping disorder (insomnia)
"35 million jobs have been eliminated in industrial Nations"
in Vietnam :
40% of children use the internet in rural areas for educational purposes
34% send school related texts
in urban areas it spiked up to 60% and 57%
DIGITAL DIVIDE
" an economic inequality between groups who have access to the internet and those without access."
prices of internet access are expensive
lack of electricity in rural areas
shortage of telephone lines and wired access
dominant language of internet is English (isn't always the local language)
PESSIMIST VIEW
Technology will reinforce the gap between the rich and poor.

multi-nation corperation will be less dependant on local resource because technology will all allow them to get it else where.
